Feathers→ feather meal
In hydrolysis, keratin-rich feathers are broken down under heat and pressure into a digestible protein. With direct hydrolysis, steam is injected straight into the material for fast, even heat transfer. With indirect hydrolysis, heat is transferred through the vessel wall without direct steam contact, producing a drier product that is more economical to dry downstream. After hydrolysis, the material is dried, typically in a Haarslev disc dryer or ring dryer, into a stable, storable feather meal: a valuable, high-protein ingredient for animal feed. Higher digestibility earns a higher price, so the process you choose has a direct effect on what your meal is worth.
Batch hydrolysation
Straightforward and reliable, normally best for low-to-medium-capacity operations.
Continuous indirect hydrolysation
A continuous process suited to medium-to-high capacities.
Continuous direct hydrolysation
An energy-efficient, medium-to-high-capacity process. Add evaporators to lift yield further and improve feather-meal quality.
Equipment
Blood→ blood meal
Your poultry blood — typically 16–18% protein solids — becomes blood meal: a high-lysine ingredient for non-ruminant feed, or a nitrogen-rich fertiliser for higher-value markets. Removing more than half the water mechanically, before any drying, keeps the energy cost down.
Coagulation and dewatering
Steam-injection coagulation followed by mechanical separation takes out the bulk of the water before drying.
Continuous drying
Gentle, controlled drying that protects protein quality.
Premium spin-flash drying (IDX)
For high-digestibility blood meal that commands a premium price.
