Recuperative Thermal Oxidizer
The Haarslev Recuperative Thermal Oxidizer eliminates odour emissions from rendering installations (and other industrial processes) by oxidising VOC-laden vapours at very high temperatures in the presence of oxygen. The system converts complex organic compounds into CO₂ and H₂O, ensuring odour reductions of more than 99% A flue-gas boiler recovers heat from the outgoing hot gases to generate valuable steam, making this an energy-efficient solution for facilities with high steam demands and facing strict environmental requirements.
Main uses
- 01
Rendering vapours from cookers and dryers
- 02
Air with VOCs from rendering lines
- 03
Non-condensable gases from condensers

Industrial odour-control applications
Built for
performance
- 01Combustion chamber lined with special ceramic refractory materials ensures reliable high-temperature oxidation of process vapours. (Diagram, p.3)
- 02Automatic inlet vapour control maintains stable combustion conditions despite fluctuating vapour loads from process equipment. (Diagram, p.3)
- 03Almost any type of fuel can be used for the burners, providing flexibility under different energy and cost conditions. (Diagram, p.3)
- 04Flue-gas boiler captures thermal energy from exhaust gases to generate valuable steam, reducing overall energy costs. (Page 2, 3)
- 05Ideal for plants with large steam requirements, combining emissions control with steam generation in a single integrated system.
Oxidiser performance control
CORE-OXI stabilises combustion temperature, oxygen levels and vapour feed rates to ensure consistent >99% odour reduction. It optimises burner fuel use, improves heat-recovery efficiency and maintains safe operation under fluctuating vapour loads. Automated alarm handling and real-time monitoring reduce operator workload and support compliance with environmental requirements.
